What Is EPF Aadhaar based e-Sign?
As per EPFO circular dated 6th October 2017, The Employees Provident Fund Organisation has started a new process of “Aadhaar based e-Sign” in addition to Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) to be used by Employers. If we compare this with the DSC, It is very easy to use.
Establishments whose DSC is already registered with Authorised signatory, Can easily activate their e-Sign in EPF Unified Portal by just providing their Aadhar. Authorised signatory whose Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is not available in PF Unified Portal, must have to register their e-Sign in PF Unified Portal in order to avail the benefits but first, they have to get it approved from concerned EPFO field office. When the registration of authorized signatory for e-Sign is approved, he/she can able to sign the documents by getting an OTP on their mobile registered with Aadhaar.
Employers can use aadhar based e sign along with their active digital signature.
Steps To Register Aadhar Based e-Sign in EPF Unified Portal
As we mentioned above that the registration of Aadhar based e-Sign has its own two different categories:
- Employers with active digital signature in the Unified portal.
- Employers who don’t have registered digital signature in the Unified portal.
The major benefits for those employers who have done their registration and have an active digital signature are that they don’t need to go to the regional EPF office in order to get approval for their aadhar based e sign. Rest of the employers have to visit their regional EPF office along with request letter that is generated in EPF unified portal.
Step 1 – The visitor’s has to go to the official EPF Unified Portal and must log in using their login credentials (user id and password) to follow the steps below.
Step 2 – When you successfully logged in and on the main page of the portal, Find and click on the “ESTABLISHMENT” tab in the main menu & then a drop-down menu will appear where the visitor has to select “DSC/E-SIGN”. (as shown in the image down below)
Step 3 – A new window will now pop up where you will see two different sections:
- Digital Signature Registration
- e-Sign Registration
Leave the first section blank and select the very first option in the “e-Sign Registration” section named “Click here to register eSign, of a person whose DSC is already registered”.
Step 4 – On the new page, your active digital signatures will appear. The visitors can see on the right side, there is an option to register e-sign.
Step 5 – Now a new window will open where the visitors can see the page for register aadhar based e-sign. Here on this page, you have to fill in some required details such as :
- Aadhar number
- Name as per aadhar
- DOB as per aadhar
When you successfully filled in all the required fields, click on the “Generate OTP” button.
Step 6 – You will now receive an OTP to your mobile number registered with Aadhar number. Now, enter the received OTP and hit submit button. You’ll get a message on the screen that e-sign is registered successfully.
Steps To Register Aadhar Based E-Sign in EPF Unified Portal For Employers Without Digital Signature
The employers who have digital signature activated has successfully registered their e-Sign, But what will happen to those employers who don’t have the digital signature?
Here we’ll give you steps that you can follow in order to register e sign.
► The visitors have to go to the official EPF Unified Portal and log in using employer user id and password.
► Now find and click on the ESTABLISHMENT tab then a drop-down menu will appear where one has to select DSC/E-SIGN.
► A new window will now open where you’ll find a form in which you have to fill in required details. The form will appear below the Digital signature registration form.
► Click on the Generate OTP.
► The generated OTP will be sent to your mobile number registered with Aadhar card.
► Enter OTP and hit submit.
► You will now see a text, telling you that e-sign is registered successfully, generate request letter to the activation process to be initiated.
► The final step is to click on the “Request Letter” and download PDF file of the letter, Now make it attested by your employer and submit it to your regional EPF office.
