EPFO gives many flexibilities to their members and one of them is that the members can update their PAN details or information by using UAN portal provided by EPFO. So, If someone wants to update or correct their PAN details on UAN EPFO portal, The UAN (Universal Account Number) credential is a most important. One can login to EPFO UAN portal and update Their given PAN details by uploading necessary documents online.


STEPS TO UPDATE PAN CARD DETAILS IN EPF – UAN PORTAL

Update PAN Card details in EPF in the previous days were very difficult but as now on EPFO made it very simple. Just follow our given steps down below.

► The first step for the members is to log into the official portal using UAN credential. Login Here

► At the top of the page, you will see a menu in which there is a section named “MANAGE”

► Click on to the manage section and a drop-down menu will appear now click onto the “KYC” (as shown in the image down below)

► It will now lead you to the different page where you can find different sections for updating. Like, in this case, select the “PAN” (as shown in the image down below)

► Now after selecting Bank section it will give you the access to update your details such like :

  • Document Number (PAN Number)
  • Name as per Document (Name On PAN Card)

► Now finally hit the save button. (as shown in the image down below)

Once the member clicked on to the save button, It will show the PAN updation under Pending or it will be Approved KYC verification.

    • Dear Visitor, Due to heavy traffic sometimes the official website crashes. You can try after sometime if you want to update your PAN details.

    • HOW TO UPDATE EPF UAN DETAILS OFFLINE

      Step 1 – Firstly the member have to carry on the offline update through the employer.

      Step 2 – The request that you’ve made, submit it to your employer (with documents).

      Step 3 – The Final and last step would be contact the concerned EPFO Field Office for change (Only Employer can do this).

  1. UAN name and PAN name are mismatching.. Cant change the name in PAN because it doesnot take initials. But UAN has initials. What is the solution for this?

      You should contact your regional EPF office regarding this issue, They’ll guide you correctly in your situation.

    • Hello Tejas,
      The status of KYC will stay pending until your uploaded document are approved by the EMPLOYER.
      So, When your employer approve the same, Status of your uploaded document will be changed as “Approved by employer”. You will also receive SMS for the change.
      OR
      If your employer is not approving the same. Contact your employer with original documents in order to request him for online attestation. But, If the employer does not approve.         PAN Number not taking in UAN portal But As per Adhar card and Pan Card My name is correct only, Even my employer also tried but no use.
        I left company 2 years back only but still i can’t able to withdraw my PF amount.
        Even i mailed to employeefeedback@epfindia.gov.in but they are telling please ask KYS Authorities.

    Now when i try to update my pan card its shows error msg (your pan thos not matching against uan and income tax office)

      Your Name must be updated correctly in order to seed your PAN with your UAN. You can follow the process of UAN Name Correction, Once your Name in UAN is updated, Your PAN Verification error will be solved.

      • Visit Unified Portal
      • Login and go to Manage Tab and then Modify Basic Details
      • Now fill your correct details as per aadhar
      • Hit Submit
      • Your Data will be then scanned with your UIDAI data
      • Once done, your Request will transfer to your employer
      • Then he or she will transfer the request to EPFO authorities so that they can make changes in your details

      If you are still getting this error, Then it must be a MAJOR issue from the other end. You should visit the regional EPF office to correct the issue OR you can lodge a complaint against this for a quick action at EPF Grievance Portal.

  13. Hi.. I updated my kyc with Aadhaar. But I forgot to update my PAN NUMBER… So in claim submission shows. PAN NOT AVAILABLE TDS 34.64% APPLICABLE…. so plz help how can I take my of amount without deduction. My total money is 30,000… Thank you

      Please note, If an employee withdraws his/her amount which is more or equal to 30,000/- INR (Now the limit is 50,000/- INR) and on the other side, The service period is less than 5 years, then:

      • TDS will be deducted to its maximum marginal rate (i.e. 34.608%) if employee fails or did’nt submited his/her PAN.
      • TDS will be deducted 10% if Form-15G/15H is not submitted provided PAN is submitted.

      After uploading the required KYC documents, Your employer should have to approve it so the official authorities can make changes in your EPF Account from their end. Request your employer to make it approve using their digital signature. If he didn’t let us know with a reply back.

    i want to tell you that i was trying to get an EPF no. from last 6 month but when i go to EPFO partal register page, after fill-up all data and getting MPIN no. (OPT on mobile) and clicking on “REGISTER ” ., it show’s:
    “PAN ALREADY IN USE” .
    from very first time when i tried to register for an EPF No.

      We are getting so many queries about “Error while PAN authentication”. For now, all we can say is that you can raise a complaint about this in EPF Grievance Portal for a quick action (do mention both of your issues). Recently, According to the instructions issued by the Labor Secretary, complaints coming to Grievance Portal should not be pending for more than 7 days.

      The rate of Tax on your PF withdrawals depends upon your previous years’ tax slab. The employer interest & PF contribution become the part of your taxable income of every financial year. While the Employee contribution is deducted from your total 80C investment. The interest on employee contribution is considered as other income.

    when I tried to update the PAN details of KYC page of EPFO. I am getting the following error “Errorwhile PAN authentication. Could not send Message”.

    Name in UAN of EPFO is: M ARUL SATISH PANDIAN
    Name of PAN in KYC of EPFO page is: ARUL SATISH PANDIAN

      Most of the queries we get related to this are because of a technical issue from their end. But, in your case, it seems that your name is not matching with your PAN data. Have you tried to update your name in UAN? Let us know, and we’ll guide you step by step in updating your name. give it a try maybe then you’ll not get this error.

  28. Sir, I am getting an error stating that the name in PAN card does not match with the income tax records.

    My Name in UAN Portal and Aadhar – Aditya L
    Name in PAN CARD – Aditya L
    Name in income tax record – LAKSHMINARAYANAN ADITYA

    I tried updating the PAN card name under KYC as mentioned in the income tax record but I am still getting the same error. Please note that I have also linked Aadhar and PAN.
