Indian workers working overseas can now be protected from the scope of Social Security Schemes of that respective country. Instead, they will be able to choose plans for the Domestic Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).
Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC) VP Joy told this. While addressing the National Conference on “Fraud Risk Management – New Initiatives”, an online facility has been started for this.
This scheme protects Indian workers from the social security schemes of their country of work. Along with this, it also protects employment providers from taking double contribution in social security schemes. EPFO has contracted with 18 countries for this.
“We have made the whole process conducive to the staff. Workers who are going to work abroad can get the certificate of coverage. They can apply online for the certificate and can get it online too.”
He says for this, there is a simple application of one page on the EPFO website.
VP Joy said that This plan is a great help for people who are going to work abroad for a limited time. The biggest advantage of this is that now his money cannot be stuck out for a long time.
